SUMMARY
The Outreach and Development Coordinator is responsible for increasing community engagement, strengthening donor and volunteer relationships, and expanding public awareness of the animal shelter's mission. This position helps with fundraising initiatives, manages communications, coordinates events, and builds partnerships with businesses, community stakeholders, and community members. Working closely with shelter leadership, the Outreach and Development Coordinator helps generate the financial and community support needed to advance lifesaving programs and improve outcomes for animals in need.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Help to develop and implement fundraising strategies to increase individual, corporate, and foundation giving.
- Aid in researching, writing, and managing grant proposals, reports, and supporting documentation to secure foundation funding.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, foundations, and community partners through regular communication and stewardship.
- Coordinate donor acknowledgment processes, including thank-you letters, tax receipts, and donor recognition.
- Maintain and update the shelter's website to ensure accurate, timely, and engaging information about programs, services, events, and organizational news.
- Create written communications including newsletters, email campaigns, press releases, annual reports, and other outreach materials.
- Develop marketing and educational materials that promote the shelter's mission, programs, and impact.
- Lead the planning and coordinating of fundraising events, community outreach activities, and donor appreciation initiatives.
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, sponsorships, and community partnerships that align with the shelter's strategic goals.
- Collaborate with shelter leadership to develop annual fundraising goals, communication strategies, and organizational messaging.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree preferred but not required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Event planning and execution experience
- Grant writing experience preferred or willingness to learn
- Operate with a growth mindset and a solution focused approach
- Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy and stressful environment
- Experience creating written communications such as newsletters, annual reports, fundraising appeals, website content, and email campaigns.
COMPENSATION
This is an hourly, non-exempt position, hours range between 25-40 hours per week dependent on event schedule. $25/hr with PTO and sick time.
