Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a highly motivated, detail‑oriented, and experienced Electrical/Control Systems Engineer to join the growing Engineering team. This role will be responsible for interpreting customer specifications for industrial machine control panels to design and build electrical panels and control systems for automated machinery and equipment. The Electrical Engineer will create detailed schematics, layouts, and bills of materials (BOMs), select appropriate components, and define material, labor, and overhead costs while working with sales and project management for final pricing. This is a critical role in ensuring projects meet customer and industry standard requirements, are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze requests for quotes (RFQs), electrical schematics, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and technical specifications to understand the scope of work for custom control panels.
- Create P&IDs, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Program PLCs and HMIs, and configure control system components.
- Test, validate, and troubleshoot control systems to ensure compliance with safety regulations and customer specifications.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineering and operations teams to ensure integrated design and smooth execution.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and governing bodies such as UL/CSA, NFPA, and NEC.
- Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, operation manuals, and control logic version control.
- Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, and Operations to ensure designs are compliant with customer specifications and internal processes.
- Estimate material, labor, and overhead costs for projects, contributing to accurate and competitive proposals.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to the shop floor and customers, resolving engineering‑related issues.
- Collaborate with vendors to obtain RFQs for material costs and ensure timely updates to customer pricing.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department, enhancing efficiency, quality, and cost‑effectiveness as assigned.
- Identify and recommend improvements in engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Competencies:

- Experience with NFPA 79, NEC, UL 508A, and ISO 13849.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Controls Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Proficiency in PLC programming and HMI development.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical software.
- Strong knowledge and experience with electrical components, control system theory, and automation hardware.
- Project management experience with design activities or similar.
Salary : $80,000 - $120,000
