What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Engineering Intern position at Stratum Environmental Group?
About Stratum Environmental Group
Stratum Environmental Group (SEG) is a Texas-based environmental services firm specializing in stormwater management and erosion control for construction sites. We serve state DOTs, municipalities, civil engineers, and top-tier general contractors across Texas. We are a lean, high-performing team that delivers technical excellence and responsive client service on every project.
The Role
We are looking for a sharp, adaptable intern who thrives in a fast-moving professional environment and is ready to contribute from day one. This is not a passive internship. On any given week you might be reviewing federal regulations, tracking a project schedule, drafting a client proposal, or coordinating with subcontractors. The right candidate communicates exceptionally well in writing and in person, stays organized under competing priorities, and shifts confidently between project coordination, compliance support, estimating, and direct client interaction.
This position is flexible — we can accommodate part-time or full-time arrangements, semester or Co- formats.
at You'll Work On
Project Management Support
Track schedules, milestones, action items, and deliverables across active engagements. Identify client needs and communicate them to the project team. Help keep projects moving.
Estimating & Takeoffs
Perform quantity takeoffs from construction plans. Assist in building preliminary estimates and unit cost breakdowns. Help compile proposal packages and supporting documentation.
Subcontractor & Bid Coordination
Send quote requests, track responses, and organize incoming bids for comparison. Flag gaps, inconsistencies, or missing submissions before deadlines.
Compliance Support
Research regulatory requirements under EPA, TCEQ, and related frameworks. Support gap analysis, assist with SWPPP and SPCC plan documentation, and organize site compliance data.
Document Drafting & Review
Prepare and review correspondence, reports, compliance plans, meeting notes, estimates, and technical summaries. Your written work will go to real clients.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
Serve as a direct point of contact with clients and contractors as directed by project managers. Professionalism and clarity are non-negotiable.
Data & Systems Organization
Maintain structured trackers for bids, scopes, and timelines. Build and improve templates for repeatable processes. Keep submission deadlines on the team's radar.
