What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forward Deployed Engineer position at Strativ Group?
We're hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer (Austin, Hybrid 3 days a week) to lead software integration and deployment of our multi-domain autonomous orchestration platform across customer and partner environments.
You'll build the adapters, interfaces, and integration layers that connect our orchestration engine to diverse autonomous vehicles, sensors, and third-party systems, then deploy them in complex, constrained operational settings.
Expect roughly 50% travel to partner facilities, test ranges, and remote sites.
What you'll do
- Build adapters connecting our platform to vehicle control protocols (MAVLink, custom APIs) and third-party C2 systems (ATAK, TAK Server)
- Integrate new sensors and payloads into our world model
- Deploy ML models/Autonomous systems and configure networks for degraded, secure, multi-domain environments
- Serve as technical liaison between customers and core engineering, funneling field learnings back to product
- Contribute shared libraries, deployment tooling, and reusable components that accelerate future integrations
- Lead on-site integration, demos, and training at partner sites
What we're looking for
- 3 years building integrations, APIs, or distributed systems
- Strong Python and/or C
- Advanced Linux proficiency
- Solid grounding in networked systems (TCP/IP, UDP, multicast, routing)
- Experience integrating with external APIs, protocols, or hardware
- Comfort with ~50% travel
