Business Systems Analyst
Location: Detroit, MI (Hybrid, 3 days onsite)
Duration: 12 Month Contract (Then eligible for contract renewal.)
This role is a Business Systems Analyst embedded within the Corporate Safety team, supporting the Soteria 2.0 safety observation platform. The focus is on lightweight, governed development and configuration—building simple forms, dashboards, and reports using existing platform capabilities, not core software engineering.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a low-code, governed environment, can quickly learn Corporate Safety processes and terminology, and translates business needs into practical, low-complexity solutions. This role does not include backend development, platform enhancements, or heavy coding. Strong collaboration with Corporate Safety stakeholders and IT is essential.
While deep Safety subject-matter expertise is not required, the role requires comfort operating within the Corporate Safety domain and accurately reflecting Safety processes and terminology in all solutions.
Corporate Safety Domain Knowledge (Working Level)
- Working understanding of key Corporate Safety concepts and workflows, including:Safety observations and reporting
- Incident tracking and follow-up
- Hazard identification and mitigation concepts
- Leading vs. lagging safety indicators
- Ability to quickly learn and correctly apply Safety-specific terminology when building forms, dashboards, and reports to ensure clarity and consistency for end users
- Experience partnering with Safety, Compliance, or EHS teams to translate operational needs into simple, governed technology solutions (preferred)
Technical Environment (Awareness Level)
- Soteria 2.0 includes a front-end application built using a component-based UI pattern (conceptually similar to React-based applications)
- Portions of the solution reside in the Cognition repository, though this role does not modify core code or platform logic
- Development activities are limited to: Configuration
- Light UI work
- Data, dashboarding, and reporting capabilities already available within the platform
Key Responsibilities
- Support Soteria 2.0 through citizen development activities, leveraging existing platform functionality (no net-new platform development)
- Build and maintain simple front-end forms and components within the Soteria 2.0 safety observation area using established design patterns
- Create and enhance dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to support Corporate Safety analytics and insights
- Perform minor configuration and UI updates aligned with approved standards and business needs
- Collaborate with Corporate Safety stakeholders to gather requirements and iteratively refine solutions
- Partner with IT to ensure solutions align with governance, security, and platform constraints
- Provide basic documentation and knowledge transfer for solutions created
