Job Title: Planner Estimator II
Location: Apollo Beach, FL
Permanent Full Time
Planner Estimator II is a mid-level position responsible for planning, estimating, and coordinating contractor work within a heavy industrial/construction environment. Candidates typically have a background in industrial or commercial trades and have progressed into supervisory, planning, or project management roles.
About the Role:
As a Planner Estimator II you will work with limited supervision and exercise independent decision-making to develop project schedules, prepare work packages, estimate contractor work, and support the execution of maintenance and construction projects. This position requires strong knowledge of planning, scheduling, and tracking maintenance work in an industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scope, plan, and estimate contractor work in accordance with company procedures. Ensure work packages include HEC procedures, confined space and burn permits, job aids, maintenance procedures, PM attachments, safe work practices, and environmental policies.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor P6 schedules for outages, maintenance, and projects.
- Maintain alignment of project schedules among all stakeholders, particularly Contract Supervisors, and communicate changes to daily and weekly plans.
- Monitor and optimize productivity, reducing overtime usage where possible, and ensure proper routing and follow-up of work orders.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Planning Associates regarding planning and scheduling contractor work.
- Review and approve invoices for planned work, routing for additional authorization as needed.
- Perform other duties or special assignments as directed by the E & PM Manager, Construction.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: College degree in Business, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Building Construction, or a related field.
Experience:
- Required: Minimum 2 years as a Planner Estimator I or at least 6 years of related work experience in scheduling, planning, and tracking maintenance work and equipment in a heavy industrial facility.
- Preferred: Experience in planning and creating work packages.
Skills & Abilities:
- Required:
- Proficient in work management systems for planning, scheduling, and tracking maintenance in heavy industrial settings.
- Strong understanding of maintenance and outage management best practices.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel (including pivot tables, macros), and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills—able to gather, analyze, and present information effectively.
- Preferred:
- Experience with scheduling software such as Primavera or Microsoft Project and a thorough understanding of CPM scheduling methods and theory.
