Stoughton Public Schools has an immediate opening for a Finance Office Assistant position.
Anticipated Salary Range: $25-26/hour DOQE
Open until filled Start Date - as soon as possible or no later than January 20, 2026

Position Finance Office Assistant
Location: Central Business Office
Union: Non-aligned
Work Days/Year: 20 hours per week*, year-round, 5 days per week, 8:00am - 1:00pm
Reports to: Asst. Superintendent for Finance & Operations
Anticipated Start Date: Immediately
Job Close: Open until filled
*Position is benefit-eligible at 20 hours per week. Employee will also be enrolled in the Norfolk County Retirement System
SUMMARY:
This position provides hands-on operations- and administrative support to the Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Operations. The position may occasionally require additional hours. Training will be provided to a candidate who can meet the knowledge, skills, and ability requirements.

be organized, pro-active, and exercise sound judgement Duties include but are not limited to:
Payroll timecard entry, reconciling absences v. payroll, other payroll support tasks as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Operations; this is a weekly and ongoing priority which is deadline-driven and requires strict attention to detail and the ability to prioritize
Manage Massachusetts Teacher Retirement including monthly reporting, updating information in the MTRS system and completing applications and related forms
Assist with other payroll-related tasks as directed by the Asst. Superintendent
Manage Revenue process – receive district funds, post into the accounting system (Munis), deliver funds to the Town Treasurer’s office or local bank as may be required, reconcile revenue to ledgers.
Support other Finance Office staff during periods of high demand, cover for absences and work on special projects as assigned by the Asst. Superintendent
Track Professional Development and certifications of Finance Office staff
Clerical duties including arrange meetings, type and proof documents, make refence checks
Any other duties or tasks as may be assigned by the Asst. Superintendent or their designee
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma
Associates’ degree or higher preferred (preferably in Business, Management, Accounting, or related)
Two years of experience as senior/confidential Admin. Assistant, Office Manager, business or accounting assistant or similar position. Private sector experience qualifies
Or any combination of skills, knowledge and experience that the Superintendent and Asst.Superintendent of Finance & Operations deem suitable
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Intermediate or higher skills in utilizing Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word)
Experience using or ability to quickly obtain proficiency with software applications such as MUNIS
Excellent written and oral English communication skills
Thorough knowledge of standard office procedures and practices
Ability to recognize and resolve problems with minimal administrative intervention
Accuracy and attention to detail
Strong analytical ability
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination and the ability to distinguish color. The employee must be able to input information into a computer and as well as read material from a computer monitor as well as printed matter with or without visual aids. The employee must be able to communicate effectively other staff members in order to exchange accurate information.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in this environment ranges from quiet to loud. Generally, a fast-paced environment. Business office staff interact with many staff members and outside stakeholders. The employee must be able to drive their own vehicle to all Stoughton school buildings and municipal town offices.
