Responsibilities
- Create and manage annual department goals, budgets, and forecasts aligned with financial and operational objectives.
- Communicate, enforce, and monitor service department procedures.
- Create annual service goals and budgets aligned with financial and operational objectives.
- Develop and execute service department marketing plans, monitoring progress toward departmental goals.
- Schedule and assign work based on employees’ skills and knowledge.
- Demonstrate leadership by sharing best practices and implementing consistent processes across the service department.
- Coordinate customer clinics, field days, and other promotional events.
- Foster strong communication and collaboration with parts, sales, and operations teams to support overall store success.
- Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team while promoting a culture of accountability and service excellence.
- Contribute to company-wide promotions and initiatives through proactive leadership and cross-functional support.
- Maximize department performance through goal-setting, coordination, and delegation.
- Manage department assets, including vehicles, trailers, tools, and equipment, ensuring excellent condition.
- Maintain work in progress within company standards.
What's Required

- 4 years of experience working in a service department, demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and manage a service team.
- Excellent communication skills, able to interact effectively with all levels of the company.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage risk, implement change, negotiate effectively, and resolve conflicts.
- Experience leading and working collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong customer service skills, ensuring a high level of satisfaction internally and externally.
- Proficient with computers, spreadsheets, and budget creation; comfortable using business systems.
- Familiarity with creating and managing departmental budgets.
- Previous experience in a dealership service environment.
- Experience developing and executing departmental marketing or promotional plans.
- Ability to analyze financial reports and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Experience coordinating events such as customer clinics, field days, or product demonstrations.
- Knowledge of industry-specific service tools, equipment, and operational best practices.
- Strong organizational skills for scheduling, workflow management, and department planning.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and implement process improvements.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent life education
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Requires use of hands and fingers for computer and office equipment, as well as tools when assisting in the shop.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via radio or other devices.
- Ability to occasionally operate shop equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, or lifts.
- Capable of spending time on the shop floor, including walking and inspecting work areas.
