Department: Float Nevada and Maxwell Clinic
Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Mon-Fri 7:00am-3:30pm
Salary Range: $19.19-$28.50

 

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant provides compassionate, efficient, and high-quality patient care while supporting providers and clinic operations. This position performs clinical and administrative duties within the scope of practice and in accordance with hospital and clinic policies, procedures, and applicable state regulations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care within established hospital and clinic policies, procedures, and scope of practice.
  • Perform medical assistant duties in accordance with state regulations and departmental standards.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, chief complaints, medical history, and other required patient information.
  • Recognize and promptly report potentially emergent or critical symptoms to the provider.
  • Maintain patient safety and respond to individual patient needs.
  • Prepare and administer prescribed medications, allergy injections, and other injections within scope of practice.
  • Perform venipuncture and other clinical procedures as appropriate.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments and assist providers as needed.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Coordinate patient flow to promote an efficient and effective clinic experience.
  • Schedule clinic and specialist appointments while considering insurance requirements and guidelines.
  • Identify changes to patient demographics, insurance, and other information and communicate updates to front office staff.
  • Perform phone triage, prescription refill requests, and coordination of care under provider direction.
  • Maintain and retrieve medical records, documents, test results, and other patient information as needed.
  • Route transcription, refill requests, and other patient information to the appropriate provider.
  • Provide patient education and verify patient or caregiver understanding.
  • Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with patients, families, providers, and coworkers.
  • Attend required in-services, staff meetings, and training.
  • Follow all hospital, clinic, departmental, and safety policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification/registration preferred or required based on applicable regulations.
  • Previous healthcare or clinical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, basic patient care, and clinical procedures.
  • Ability to perform venipuncture and administer injections within scope of practice.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, compassion, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
