MUST HAVE MANUFACTURING EXPERIENCE
The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in managing the day-to-day accounting operations of a manufacturing organization. This position is responsible for financial reporting, cost accounting, inventory accounting, month-end close, budgeting support, internal controls, and compliance. The Assistant Controller partners with plant operations, supply chain, production, and senior leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, operational efficiency, and sound financial decision-making
.Key Responsibilitie
sAccounting & Financial Reportin
- gAssist in managing all general accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- .Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
- .Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- .Analyze financial results and explain variances to budget, forecast, and prior periods
- .Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports
.Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Financ
- eMaintain standard costing systems and monitor manufacturing cost performance
- .Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances and provide recommendations for improvement
- .Review production costs, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods inventory valuations
- .Partner with operations leadership to identify cost reduction and productivity improvement opportunities
- .Support annual standard cost updates and inventory costing reviews
.Inventory Contro
- lOversee inventory accounting and reconciliation processes
- .Participate in physical inventory counts and cycle count programs
- .Investigate inventory discrepancies and recommend corrective actions
- .Monitor obsolete, excess, and slow-moving inventory reserves
- .Ensure inventory transactions are accurately recorded and reported
.Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysi
- sSupport annual budget preparation and monthly forecasting processes
- .Perform financial analysis related to manufacturing operations and plant performance
- .Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics
- .Assist management with profitability analysis and strategic planning initiatives
.Internal Controls & Complianc
- eMaintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
- .Support internal and external audits
- .Assist with SOX compliance and audit documentation where applicable
- .Develop and improve accounting procedures and process efficiencies
.Leadership & Team Suppor
- tSupervise and mentor accounting staff, including Senior Accountants, Staff Accountants, AP/AR personnel, and Cost Accountants
- .Assist with employee training, development, and performance management
- .Serve as backup to the Controller and support cross-functional accounting initiatives
.ERP & System
- sUtilize ERP systems to manage financial data and reporting
- .Support system enhancements, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives
- .Develop and maintain reporting tools and dashboards to improve financial visibility
.Qualification
sEducatio
- nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- .CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
.Experienc
- e5 years of progressive accounting experience
- .2 years of supervisory experience preferred
- .Manufacturing accounting experience required
- .Strong background in cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial reportin
Salary : $100,000 - $140,000
