What you would do
Typical responsibilities could include:
- Conducting daily safety inspections and hazard assessments across active construction sites
- Developing, implementing and enforcing site-specific safety plans aligned with OSHA and local regulations
- Managing safety training, toolbox talks and inductions for all site personnel
- Investigating incidents and near-misses, documenting findings and driving corrective actions
- Coordinating with project managers, supervisors and trades to embed safety into construction sequencing and workflows
- Maintaining safety records, permits and compliance documentation
- Building and maintaining relationships with regulatory bodies, clients and external safety auditors
- Supporting budget control and resource allocation for safety initiatives
- Mentoring site teams and raising safety standards across operations
What you could bring
Most roles of this type require the following:
Must-have
- 5-10 years' site safety or construction safety management experience
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification or equivalent
- First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards and local compliance requirements
- Proven ability to conduct hazard assessments and develop safety plans
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Authorization to work in the United States
Nice-to-have
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Occupational Safety
- Additional safety certifications (NEBOSH, CSP, ASP)
- Experience with safety management software and digital reporting tools
- Background in mentoring or leading safety-focused teams
