Stewartville Care Center is seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our Nursing Department and support our mission of providing exceptional, person-centered care to our residents. This is a key leadership position responsible for clinical oversight, regulatory compliance, staff development, and promoting a culture of teamwork and excellence.
About the Role
The Director of Nursing oversees all nursing services, ensuring high-quality resident care in accordance with state and federal regulations. The DON partners closely with the Administrator, department leaders, residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams to maintain strong clinical standards and foster a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
- Ensure compliance with all DHS, CMS, and state/federal regulations for skilled nursing facilities.
- Oversee care planning, assessments, and clinical documentation for accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage staffing levels, scheduling, recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
- Lead quality assurance, infection prevention, and clinical improvement initiatives.
- Participate in surveys, audits, and follow-up action planning.
- Promote respectful communication, teamwork, and a positive resident and employee experience.
- Analyze clinical outcomes and respond with effective interventions.
- Support resident and family communication and resolve concerns professionally.
- Ensure adherence to facility policies, procedures, and evidence-based nursing standards.
Qualifications
- Current RN license in Minnesota (required).
- Minimum 2–3 years of nursing leadership experience in long-term care (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of LTC regulations, MDS/RAI process, and quality measures.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop nursing staff.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, resident-centered environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $99,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
