What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at StevenDouglas?
StevenDouglas is partnering with a client seeking a Controller for a temp-to-perm opportunity. This need is 4 days/week on-site in Sidney, Ohio.
This individual will assist with the following tasks:
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles, ensuring accurate financial statements and internal/external reporting
- Oversee daily accounting functions, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and operational accounting
- Manage ERP accounting, drive system improvements and maintain data integrity
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, variance reports, and operational analyses for executive decision-making
- Prepare and lead financial discussion in weekly operation meetings
- Ensure strong internal controls and support audit/compliance processes
- Work with cross-functional teams to deliver actionable financial insights
- Partner with the leadership on reporting and analysis initiated by private equity stakeholder requests.
- Mentor, develop, and supervise accounting staff
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a private equity-backed business
- Advanced ERP experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Manufacturing or CPG industry experience
- Strong GAAP technical knowledge and audit experience
- Proven record in operational close, financial reporting, and team management
