What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN OR (RN Circulator) Full-time position at Sterling Surgical Hospital?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides direct peri-operative patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
- Assists physicians with examinations, procedures in the OR and other processes related to direct patient care.
- Administers blood products, and delivers medications to the surgical field.
- Provides health care instruction/education to patient prior to surgery and family members.
- Maintains patient records and charts to ensure an accurate record of the patient’s medical treatment.
- Participates in the planning and implementation of the patient’s care.
- Ensures that patients understand risk and benefits as discussed with physician.
- Checks identification of patient, including surgical consent, lab work, x-ray reports, and allergies. Reports any change in physical status of patient.
- Completes all documentation per Policies and Procedures.
- Responds quickly in any circumstance.
- Cares for patients professionally and courteously.
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by complying with all applicable safety regulations.
- Identifies opportunities to standardize processes and error proof systems that will lead to increased safety and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
- Participates in Quality Improvement programs on a regular and continuing basis.
- Participates in compliance programs such as HIPAA, safety training etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
