Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse - Pre-Op/PACU to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring their comfort and safety during the critical post-operative period. This role requires a thorough understanding of pain management, vital signs monitoring, and the ability to respond effectively to patient needs.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition post-surgery, ensuring stability and comfort.
- Administer medications and manage pain effectively using appropriate techniques.
- Provide comprehensive care for patients, including toddler care when necessary.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with facility policies.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure seamless patient transitions from surgery to recovery.
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and recovery processes.
- Conduct assessments using MDS (Minimum Data Set) as required.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy and ICD-10 coding for accurate patient assessments.
Requirements
- Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
- Proven experience in a Pre-Op/PACU or similar nursing environment is preferred.
- Strong skills in pain management techniques and vital signs monitoring.
- Familiarity with medical records management and documentation standards.
- Knowledge of occupational health practices is a plus.
- Ability to perform inhalation therapies as needed for patient recovery.
- Understanding of CT (Computed Tomography) procedures is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
