Title: Network TechnicianLocation: Milpitas, CAHire Type: ContractShift : 1st ShiftCompensation: Up to $30/hrBenefits: As a contract employee of Sterling, you are eligible to receive a Full Employee Benefits Package that includes paid time off, paid holidays, 3 medical plans to choose from, dental & vision plans, 401(k), and an Employee Stock Ownership (ESOP) plan.Overview: Responsible for performing the installation, modification, testing, and maintaining data, voice and video communications equipments, and maintain network cabling infrastructure.Job Duties: Install, maintain and troubleshoot Local Area Networks and data communications equipment such as switches and routers.Assists in maintaining and repairing network operating systems, the network cabling infrastructure, and other telecom related components.Supports existing LAN cabling and network infrastructure:Maintains drawings of drops in the manufacturing floor and office areas.Maintains an inventory of necessary LAN cables and network equipments.Maintains IDF/MDF and telecom closets organized and clean.Plans network installations by studying customer requests, and technical specifications; ordering and gathering equipment, supplies, materials, and tools, assessing installation on the site; preparing an installation diagram. Coordinate LAN cabling installation with third party vendor or internal facilities resources.Repair/Terminates network UTP cables (Cat5e/Cat6) as needed.Ensures the network and all related equipment are in working order.Works with IT support personnel to analyze and solve network-related problems reported by end-users or thru proactive monitoring tools alerts.Support IT Support personnel on desk side hardware moves, additions and changesSecures network systems by enforcing corporate policies and applying IT best practices standards.May provides backup support to the telecommunications operations.Qualifications: Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience in networking environment (LAN/WAN/WLAN)Knowledge of physical and logical LAN. Knowledge of IP Telephony, network structured cabling and standards, network switching and routing, VPN. Knowledge of MS Office toolset and MS Operating Systems.
