Job Overview:
The Network Technician will install, modify, test, and maintain data, voice, and video communication systems. The role is also responsible for supporting and maintaining the network cabling infrastructure across the facility, ensuring stable and secure connectivity.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN equipment including switches and routers.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot WLAN components such as wireless controllers and access points.
- Assist with maintenance and repair of network operating systems and telecom components.
- Support existing LAN cabling and network infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network drops in manufacturing and office areas.
- Maintain inventory of LAN cables, networking hardware, and spare components.
- Maintain clean, organized IDF/MDF rooms and telecom closets.
- Plan and prepare for network installations by reviewing customer requests, site conditions, and technical specifications.
- Prepare installation diagrams and coordinate cabling activities with vendors or internal facilities teams.
- Repair, test, and terminate Cat5e/Cat6 UTP network cables as required.
- Ensure proper functionality and maintenance of all network equipment.
- Collaborate with IT support teams to diagnose and resolve network-related issues.
- Assist IT support with desk-side hardware moves, additions, and relocations.
- Ensure network security by enforcing corporate policies and IT best practices.
- Provide backup support for telecommunications operations as needed.
Education & Experience:
- Associate degree preferred, or equivalent technical training/experience.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a LAN/WAN/WLAN networking environment.
- Strong familiarity with IP networks, physical/logical network architecture, and structured cabling.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of LAN architecture and client/server interaction.
- Experience with IP Telephony, legacy TDM PBX systems, VPN technologies, and cabling standards.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools and network administration utilities.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to follow helpdesk procedures and documentation standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows OS environments.
- Ability to read technical documentation, interpret diagrams, and produce routine reports.
- Strong communication skills for supporting teams and end users.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret charts/graphs.
- Sound judgment and initiative in resolving network issues and recommending improvements.
Certifications:
- CCNA Routing and Switching or equivalent certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network ) are desirable.
