STEP, Inc. (Lycoming‑Clinton Counties Commission for Community Action) is seeking Substitute Classroom Aides to support Early Child Care and Education (ECE) programs throughout Lycoming and Clinton Counties.

About the Role
As a Substitute Classroom Aide in STEP’s Substitute Aide Pool Program (SAPP), you’ll provide on‑call classroom support at participating early childhood education facilities.

What You’ll Do
- Assist with the supervision and care of young children
- Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment
- Support children’s social, emotional, and intellectual development
- Monitor play and interactions to ensure safety and positive behavior
- Step in to support ECE programs when staffing gaps occur
Shifts are available at early care and education facilities enrolled in the SAPP program, and you can claim available shifts as they fit your schedule.
Schedule & Flexibility
- Hours vary based on available shifts
- Maximum of 20 hours per week
- Must be available for non‑traditional hours, including late afternoons and evenings
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to meet the physical demands of working in an early childhood setting, including lifting up to 30 pounds and engaging in active play
- Willingness to complete required background checks and training
Preferred:
- Bilingual English–Spanish
✅ Training provided — we will support you through required certifications and onboarding steps.
Pre‑Placement & Compliance Requirements
(To be completed prior to placement, with guidance from STEP, Inc.)
- PA State Police Criminal History Clearance
- Child Abuse Clearance
- FBI Clearance & National Sex Offender Registry Check
- Mandated Reporter of Child Abuse training
- Health & Safety (CCDBG) training
- Physical examination and TB test
- Current Pediatric First Aid (PedFACTS) & CPR certification
- Two written, non‑family references
- Participation in job‑related training as assigned
