Civil Project Engineer

Are you an experienced Project Engineer with a background in heavy highway and bridge construction? We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team and support major infrastructure projects across Connecticut. If you have strong technical expertise, proven field coordination skills, and the ability to work effectively with CTDOT and project teams, we’d love to speak with you.

Key Responsibilities

• Support overall project design, engineering, and construction activities

• Coordinate and interface directly with CTDOT

• Assist with developing construction means and methods, working drawings, and submittals

• Prepare, process, and track change orders

• Coordinate and schedule material and equipment deliveries

• Manage transmittals, submittals, RFI’s, and documentation

• Ensure compliance with all relevant standards, codes, and specifications

• Oversee subcontractor coordination and monitor for contract adherence

• Investigate and resolve engineering and construction challenges

• Facilitate effective communication between field staff and the project team

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of heavy highway/bridge construction experience

• B.S. in Civil or Mechanical Engineering preferred

• Strong knowledge of CTDOT standard specifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to prepare clear and concise technical reports and correspondence

• OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 certification

• Must meet US work authorization requirements (I-9 compliant)

• Valid driver’s license

Working Conditions

• Work outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions

• Sit and/or stand for extended periods

• Use of standard office and drafting equipment requiring manual dexterity

• Visual acuity required for reviewing plans and technical work

• Occasional walking on uneven terrain or across bridges

• May require working more than 40 hours per week or irregular schedules
