• Schedule: Typical working hours vary based on project needs, which vary throughout the year. Snyder Civil’s office hours are 7:30AM to 5:00PM.

Position Summary

Executes planning, design, permitting, bidding, construction administration, and construction field support tasks for a variety of infrastructure projects. Independently manages multiple tasks to meet project deadlines with limited input and direction from senior staff. Operates with moderate-to-high technical autonomy while supporting project teams in executing projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. Other duties may be required and assigned. Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Collaborate with other project team members, delegate project tasks, provide staff mentorship, and provide technical guidance.
• Prepare detailed plans, specifications, cost estimates, and engineering reports to support project planning, permitting, and construction.
• Perform calculations, equipment and materials sizing/selection, and other engineering tasks to support design development.
• Coordinate internal QA/QC processes to review all project deliverable and ensure they are technically sound, meet industry standards, and maintain high levels of quality and consistency.
• Prepare CT DPH, CT DEEP, CT DOT, and other local, state, and federal permit applications.
• Perform construction administration tasks including leading meetings, reviewing contractor submittals, answering contractor RFIs, reviewing and negotiating change orders, preparing field orders, reviewing payment applications, coordinating start-up and testing, preparing as-built record drawings, and preparing construction closeout documentation.
• Coordinate with field personnel during construction to answer questions, keep projects on-track, and resolve discrepancies.
• Participate in field work, including site visits, data collection, and some construction observation.
• Participate in meetings and present technical information and project updates.
• Provide input on task scoping and budgeting at the proposal stage, and assist in tracking scopes and budgets during project execution.

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and be willing and able to drive to job sites across Connecticut. Must have your own reliable vehicle. A vehicle allowance is provided.
• BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering, or related field. Water industry experience can be substituted for education.
• Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or other relevant AutoCAD products.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace, including excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated and results-driven with a strong attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills. Able to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a consulting engineering environment.
• Willingness to learn, be a team player, and enthusiastically take on new tasks as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in the water industry or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) license in Connecticut.
• Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
• Existing OSHA 10 or 30 Hour Certification
