Resident Project Representative (RPR)

Role Identification

• Categorization: Non-exempt, hourly.
• Position Type: Full-time or Part-Time opportunities are available.
• Pay Range: $30 - $36 per hour

• Office Location: Portland, CT
• Travel Requirements: This position is field based with occasional office assignments. This position requires local travel within the Connecticut region and varied working hours.
• Schedule: Typical working hours vary based on project needs, which vary throughout the year. Snyder Civil’s office hours are 7:30AM to 5:00PM. Year round or seasonal opportunities are available.

Position Summary

RPR is primarily a field position that serves as the on-site observer during construction. RPR’s work independently in the field with support from other project team staff available as needed. RPR work locations vary based on project assignments. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. Other duties may be required and assigned. Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Conduct on-site observations to monitor and document day-to-day progress of construction crews, including tracking installed quantities, performing detailed measurements, and assisting in resolving questions and issues in the field. 
• Review and understand the Contract Documents, including Plans and Specifications
• Alert the Contractor if the work they are performing is not in accordance with the Contract Documents. If required, alert the office staff and/or client
• Serve as the liaison between the contractor, design staff, and client staff.
• Communicate daily with supervisor.
• Communicate daily with an assigned mentor, when applicable.
• Maintain neat and accurate project records including a daily field book, daily reports, and field sketches. Upload data daily to Snyder Civil’s file servers.
• Review the contractor’s monthly invoices and verify accurate quantities.  
• Prepare redline drawings showing the actual installed materials and locations (compared to the design drawings).

Required Qualifications

• Punctual and reliable attendance.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and be willing and able to drive to job sites across Connecticut. Must have your own reliable vehicle. A vehicle allowance is provided.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including use of email.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow written technical instructions and standards.
• Ability to follow established company procedures and adapt to client‑specific standards.
• Willingness to learn, be a team player, and enthusiastically take on new tasks as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in utility construction.
• College degree.
• Experience with GPS data collection.
• OSHA 10 or 30 Hour Certification

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Be physically capable and willing to work safely outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work safely on active construction sites including roadways.
