• Schedule: Typical working hours vary based on project needs, which vary throughout the year. Snyder Civil’s office hours are 7:30AM to 5:00PM.

Position Summary

An entry to early-career engineering role supporting engineering calculations, drafting, data evaluation, technical report writing, and construction administration / observation for water infrastructure projects. Works under the direct guidance of Project Engineers and Senior Engineers to build foundational engineering skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. Other duties may be required and assigned. Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assist with the preparation of detailed plans, specifications, cost estimates, and engineering reports to support project planning, permitting, and construction.
• Assist with calculations, equipment and materials sizing/selection, and other engineering tasks to support design development.
• Participate in internal QA/QC process and ensure all deliverables are technically sound, meet industry standards, and maintain high levels of quality and consistency.
• Assist with the preparation of CT DPH, CT DEEP, CT DOT, and other local, state, and federal permit applications.
• Assist with construction administration tasks including participating in meetings, reviewing contractor submittals, answering contractor RFIs, reviewing and negotiating change orders, preparing field orders, reviewing payment applications, coordinating start-up and testing, preparing as-built record drawings, and preparing construction closeout documentation.
• Coordinate with field personnel during construction to answer questions, keep projects on-track, and resolve discrepancies.
• Participate in field work, including site visits, data collection, and frequent construction observation.
• Participate in meetings and present technical information and project updates.
• Collaborate with other project team members, support project tasks as assigned, seek technical guidance, and manage assigned tasks.

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and be willing and able to drive to job sites across Connecticut. Must have your own reliable vehicle. A vehicle allowance is provided.
• BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering, or related field. Water industry experience can be substituted for education.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace, including excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated and results-driven with a strong attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills. Able to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a consulting engineering environment.
• Willingness to learn, be a team player, and enthusiastically take on new tasks as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the water industry or related field.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) license in Connecticut.
• Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or other relevant AutoCAD products.
• Existing OSHA 10 or 30 Hour Certification
