What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Accessibility Specialist position at Stellar Professionals LLC?
We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to lead a critical initiative bringing public forms, digital content, and web pages up to modern accessibility standards.
Location: Indianapolis, IN (Downtown)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in office / 2 days remote)
Employment Type: Contract
Interview Process: 1st Round via MS Teams - 2nd Round In-Person (Required)
What You'll Do
- Audit & Remediate: Review existing digital documents, public forms, and web pages to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.
- Fix & Redesign: Work across teams to fix HTML content, tag PDFs, adjust color contrast, write alternative text, and ensure screen-reader compatibility.
- Plain Language Content: Rewrite complex technical or regulatory information into clear, easy-to-read, plain language.
- Track Progress: Use project management tools and accessibility checkers to monitor remediated content and run quality assurance checks.
Required Experience & Skills
If you have 2 years of experience in the following areas, we want to hear from you:
- Accessibility Guidelines: Proven expertise in WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance.
- Technical Tools: Hands-on experience with accessibility checkers like WAVE, Axe, and Adobe Acrobat Pro (document tagging/semantic structure).
- Content Creation: Strong background in technical writing, digital communications, or web publishing using Plain Language principles.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience using Content Management Systems (CMS).
- Industry certifications like CPACC or WAS.
- Experience working in a regulated or public sector environment.
