What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Coordinator position at Stein & Sons LLC?
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our drivers are following all of the rules and regulations provided by the FMSCA and are operating in a safe manner at all times.
Duties
- Conduct regular log audits and identify potential violations to ensure compliance with the DOT
- Oversee the fleet maintenance program
- Send out regular safety emails and updates to drivers
- Maintain fleet paperwork in relation to inspections
- Other duties to be learned in order to grow into a bigger role within the safety department
Experience
- Experience in a safety coordinator or similar role within an interstate trucking company is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations is a plus
- Familiarity with the trucking industry in general
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Must be a self-starter, have the ability to work independently, able to work in a stressful environment and motivated to implement processes to improve workflow
- Experience with Microsoft programs such as word and excel
