The Lead EVS Technician serves as a key trainer for environmental services staff while acting as a backup manager to ensure seamless operations. This role requires expertise in hospital and clinic sanitation, infection control, and leadership to support staff development and operational efficiency.
Requirements
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Trains new employees and EVS trainers on hospital and clinic sanitation protocols, infection control, and safety procedures.
- Assist in the development and training programs for new and existing EVS staff on hospital and clinic cleaning protocols, infection control, and safety procedures.
- Provide hands-on coaching to improve efficiency and quality in cleaning practices.
- Assist in the completion of EVS staff competencies.
- Step in as acting EVS supervisor during absences, ensuring smooth department operations.
- Ensures staff compliance with hospital policies, OSHA regulations, and infection prevention guidelines.
- Assist in monitoring hazardous waste disposal, biohazard handling, and deep-cleaning schedules.
- Conduct quality assurance inspections to maintain high sanitation standards.
- Responsible for communication of needed supplies to materials director.
- Clean and disinfect areas of the hospital and clinics per detailed instructions.
- Perform routine floor care, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
- Dispose of waste, including hazardous materials, following hospital protocols.
- Restock cleaning supplies and ensure proper storage of chemicals.
- Follow infection prevention guidelines, including hand hygiene and PPE use.
- Operates commercial vacuums, scrubber, carpet extractor, steam cleaner, trash/utility carts, and wall washing systems.
- Complete required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.
- Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, asbestos, and other hazardous substances.
- Comply with use of proper cleaning chemicals per surface being cleaned. Follow and use manufacturer’s recommendations per cleaning surface.
- Operate laundering machines to clean hospital linens, towels, and garments.
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute linens according to hospital standards.
- Monitor laundry equipment for proper function and report maintenance needs.
- Ensure compliance with infection control procedures for handling soiled linen.
