Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Driver to join our dynamic logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating various types of commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, to ensure timely delivery of freight across diverse routes. Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers on over-the-road (OTR) routes while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Plan and follow optimal routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries across multiple locations.
- Load and unload freight with proper manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo is secured according to safety standards for hazardous materials and dangerous goods.
- Transport various types of freight such as refrigerated goods, hazardous materials (hazmat), or general cargo while maintaining the integrity of the load during transit.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections prior to trips, checking for mechanical issues and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation for deliveries, pickups, and cargo handling activities in accordance with logistics protocols.
- Follow all safety procedures related to hazardous materials regulations and truck loading/unloading processes to ensure safe transportation practices.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving on OTR routes.
- Knowledge of FMCSA, DOT regulations, and hazardous materials regulations for safe transport of dangerous goods.
- Proficiency with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments.
- Skilled in manual transmission operation and manual handling techniques for cargo loading and unloading.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tanker trucks, and tractor-trailers used in freight transportation.
- Ability to adhere strictly to safety standards related to truck loading/unloading procedures and hazardous materials handling.
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling procedures and truck loading/unloading best practices.
