KEY RESPONSBILITIES
Reporting to the Director Athletics, the position will discharge the following responsibilities:
Coordinate and oversee all publications for the department of athletics and each sport, including: press releases, game day programs, social media, all graphic and video productions, season highlights, championship interviews, game stories, feature stories on student-athletes, and other communications
Create, edit, plan and manage all content on athletics website(s).
Ensure timely and accurate stats and provide statistical and story coverage for all intercollegiate contests
Manage engaging, relevant, and timely social media presence for the department by carrying out publicity on appropriate platforms and participating in content planning and execution.
Tell stories to engage, promote programs, and recruit students through the use of videos, photos, interviews and audio
Maintain the statistical database for each conference sport and report official competition results to the NCAA, SUNYAC and conference affiliates, media and university community
Attend all home sporting events and other university events as directed by the Director of Athletics or his/her designee. This will necessitate working night and weekend hours.
Coordinate to ensure that game workers are hired and assigned to cover the various game management functions required for each sporting event, such as public address announcer, scoreboard, live streaming video, and other functions.
Work collaboratively with coaches and others to identify, prioritize, establish and accomplish sports information objectives.
Assist with marketing and development initiatives and contribute to the overall strategic initiatives of the department. Ensure alignment with brand attributes and SUNY Fredonia strategic planning, as well as that of Student Affairs and Athletics as it pertains to area of focus.
Supervise and mentor sports information staff, including student interns
Demonstrate a willingness to work flexible hours during the academic school year including nights, weekends and holiday breaks, as necessary
Ability to seek out professional relationships with media that will benefit the visibility and reputation of the athletic program.
Participate in committees and provide service to the Department, University, and Profession
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Possess CPR/AED/First Aid certifications or ability to obtain timely upon hire.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Demonstrated willingness and ability, to travel as needed and work a flexible schedule, which includes nights and weekends as needed.
Supervisory experience
Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and work with student employees
Demonstrated commitment to supporting the needs of diverse faculty, staff, students, and university community
Experience managing social media and demonstrated results leveraging social media engagement
Valid driver's license and ability to pass LENS certification
Willing to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certifications
Two years of relevant work experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree
Possess current CPR/AED/First Aid Certifications
Previous experience working in a collegiate athletic office or similar field
Prior professional experience in athletics communications, including social media, press releases, and related work
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, live-streaming software (Boxcast), Stat Crew, NCAA Genius and Presto statistical software
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, 12 month term appointed,SL3 Senior Staff Assistant, UUP-represented position. The start date will be negotiated with the final candidate and be no later than September 12, 2026. The salary range for this position is $60,000-$65,000, commensurate with experience.
