Introduction

The Department of Health Services (DHS), Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC) is a secure treatment facility that specializes in treating individuals with severe mental health conditions from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. This facility is located on Lake Winnebago with beautiful walking paths by the lake for employees to use during break periods.

WRC is recruiting to fill an Operations Program Associate (OPA) position to provide program and administrative support for the Records area. This position will work Monday to Friday, from 7:45am to 4:30pm with occasional evening hours as needed.

Position Summary

Responsibilities

As the OPA, you will be responsible for providing complex and specialized program support for the facilitation of legal scheduling, calls and evaluations. You will also have extensive contact with the Court Ordered Services (COS) Clinical Coordinator, Unit Supervisors, Record Office Staff, state court system, legal representatives, law enforcement, the Department of Corrections, and Community Forensics Unit. You will also be responsible for:

  • Coordinating scheduling, conducting background checks and arranging for staff escort.
  • Supporting the programming and scheduling for many areas of the institution.

You will maintain extensive contact with other operating units within the department and between departments and often times will work directly with incarcerated individuals on a one-on-one basis regarding legal scheduling.

Salary Information

The starting pay is $22.31 per hour, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 02/11.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WRC or medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date.

Applicants must have the ability to type at least 45 net words per minute. This will be verified as part of the selection process. A practical computer exercise will also be part of the selection process.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.

Qualifications

At a minimum, you’ll need the following:

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite to enter data or formulate reports (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
  • Experience facilitating use of and troubleshooting video-conferencing software and equipment (e.g., Polycom, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
  • Experience providing customer service in a professional or business setting (e.g., providing instructions, answering questions, resolving customer complaints, etc.).

It’d be great if you also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience using or reading legal terminology in a professional setting.
  • Experience using Microsoft Outlook to schedule appointments and maintain electronic calendars.
  • Experience working in a secure environment such as a prison or correctional facility.
