The DMA provides essential, effective, and responsive military and emergency management capability for the citizens of our state and nation. During emergencies, no single organization can handle the response. The DMA consists of several organizations working together to plan, prepare, coordinate, and respond effectively when our communities and neighbors need us the most.

The Asset Manager reports to the Deputy State IT Director and provides strategic leadership for the lifecycle management of all IT assets, including hardware, software, mobile devices, and cellular contracts. This position ensures compliance, security, and cost-effectiveness by administering enterprise platforms such as Microsoft Intune.
The role collaborates closely with system administrators and security teams to maintain platform integrity, enforce security standards, and support initiatives such as zero trust architecture and Windows Hello for Business. Responsibilities include assisting with procurement coordination, vendor relationship management, lifecycle forecasting, and policy development, as well as analyzing asset usage data and providing leadership reports to optimize costs and improve operational efficiency.
This position plays a critical role in aligning asset management practices with organizational goals, ensuring governance, and supporting continuous improvement across all divisions and directorates.
Salary Information
Starting pay is between $36.00 and $39.00 per hour. This position is in the 07/34 pay schedule/range. A 12-month probation will be required.
For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

In order to gain access to DMA facilities or air bases, and to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled, DMA will conduct a comprehensive background check.
Must have the ability to travel to various worksites throughout the state as needed for vendor meetings, audits, and on-site technical support.
The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.
This is a State of Wisconsin Civil Service position. The DMA does not require current or previous military experience.
All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO.

- Managing IT assets throughout their lifecycle, including procurement coordination, asset governance, inventory accuracy, lifecycle forecasting, and compliance.
- Administering or supporting device or asset management platforms such as Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, Microsoft 365 admin tools, or comparable systems.
- Applying and interpreting IT governance, security, compliance, and licensing standards, including developing or enforcing policies, maintaining audit-ready records, supporting security initiatives, and coordinating with security or system administration teams.
- Supporting end users or cross‑functional teams. Including 1) experience providing technical support (Tier 1 or higher), 2) coordinating with multiple stakeholders (procurement, security, budget, or IT teams), 3) delivering training or 4) providing process guidance to staff.
- Administering enterprise device management or automation tools at scale. Such as advanced Intune policy configuration, Autopilot deployment automation, conditional access, or scripting for asset workflows.
- Developing or leading organization‑wide asset governance or technology standards. Including contributions to policy development, audit procedures, or cross‑division process improvements.
- Managing and developing budgets, lifecycle forecasting, or cost‑optimization strategies for IT hardware, software, or telecommunications assets. Preferably in a government, large enterprise, or regulated environment.
- Coordinating vendor relationships or participating in contract discussions related to IT equipment, software licensing, or mobile/cellular services. Including evaluating vendor proposals, negotiating terms, or managing performance expectations.
