Introduction
The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA), has an opening for a Financial Specialist – Senior position to work as part of the team in the Power Plant & Utilities Services section of the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King (WVHK). The Veterans Home provides professional long-term skilled nursing care as well as short-term rehabilitative stays. The facility is set on scenic Rainbow Lake and spans 42 tree-lined acres. WVHK is located off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton.

Position Summary
This position performs financial, program-related activities for the Power Plant/Utilities Services section of the WVHK. Responsibilities include the coordination, administration and daily operations of financial support activities. This includes conducting a variety of activities including accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial reporting and auditing transactions for compliance with policies / procedures. The incumbent serves as the main contact for purchasing supplies and services related to Power Plant & Utilities Services.

Salary Information
The starting pay rate for this position is $29.28 an hour ($60,902 annually). The Financial Specialist – Senior classification is in pay schedule and range 02-13.
Compensation for current State employees may vary and will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
Job Details
Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of appointment. The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs does not sponsor work or student visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. Qualifications
Minimally-qualified applicants will have experience:
- Processing financial transactions (e.g., processing payment, receipting, reconciliations, accounts receivable, billing procedures, etc.); and
- Performing record keeping duties (e.g., maintaining spreadsheets, customer/client files, transaction records; following records retention requirements, etc.); or
Well-qualified candidates will also have experience performing purchasing or procurement duties (e.g., contacting vendors, creating purchase orders, soliciting bids, monitoring contracts, etc.).
