Introduction
The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA), has an opening for a Financial Specialist – Senior position to serve as a Pharmacy Biller at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King (WVHK). The Veterans Home provides professional long-term skilled nursing care as well as short term rehabilitative stays. The facility is set on scenic Rainbow Lake and spans 42 tree-lined acres. WVHK is located off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton.

Position Summary
This position is responsible for all the accounts receivables and reconciliations relating to the pharmacy billing for residents residing at WVHK, the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG) and Wisconsin Veterans Home at Chippewa Falls (WVHCF). This includes billing insurances, members, VA, hospice, and the contracted operator of the WVHCF.

Salary Information
The starting pay rate for this position is $26.61 an hour ($55,348 annually). The Financial Specialist – Senior classification is in pay schedule and range 02-13.
Compensation for current State employees may vary and will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
Job Details
Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without WDVA sponsorship) at the time of application.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:
- Processing financial transactions (e.g., processing payment, receipting, reconciliations, accounts receivable, billing procedures, etc.); and
- Performing record keeping duties (e.g., maintaining spreadsheets, customer/client files, transaction records; following records retention requirements, etc.); or
Well qualified candidates will also have experience providing insurance billing services in a healthcare setting (e.g. patient invoicing, coding, claims submissions, managing denials, etc.)
