Introduction


The Department of Corrections, Division of Juvenile Corrections, is focused on public safety through the custody and supervision of youth placed in our care. The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Teacher position, located at the Division of Juvenile Corrections Grow Academy in Oregon, Wisconsin.

Position Summary


Under the general supervision of the Institution Unit Supervisor, employee provides instructional and educational services to assigned students including assessing students for need, selection, project-based learning within an agricultural setting, and provision of appropriate instructional resources, providing guided and independent practice, evaluation of progress, and appropriate remediation. Services also include maintenance of records and reporting student data as required. This position is for year round employment.

Salary Information


This position is in pay schedule and range 13-04 with a starting pay of $28.00/hour - $35.06/hour, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Job Details


Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.


The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

This position is not eligible for remote work.

This position must complete the DOC Facility Staff Training and Support (FSTS): DJC Non-Uniform Staff training.

This position requires possession of a valid driver's license and will be required to meet State of Wisconsin fleet requirements.

Qualifications


SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

  • Must possess certification as a Teacher (grade levels: pre K-12, 6-12, 7-12, or 9-12) by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
  • Certification in Cross-Categorical Special Education (K-12). by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
  • An out of state Special Education Certification is acceptable as it can be transferred through reciprocity via the NASDTEC Interstate Agreement.
