Key Responsibilities
As a Retail Sales Clerk, You Will
- Use your customer service skills to assist the public.
- Ensure that all sales are made only to customers 21 and over.
- Perform cashiering duties.
- Assist in receiving and storing merchandise.
- Mark and display product for sale.
- Contribute to the department's service-focused mission by providing superior customer service.
- Assist in managing store operations in the absence of the manager or assistant manager, including opening and closing the store.
- Processes transactions at a cash register, gives correct change, and closes till at end of shift.
- Assists customers in finding products, making selections, and purchasing items.
- Screens for intoxication, checks identification, and watches for shoplifters.
- Conducts regular and/or spot check inventories of merchandise, supplies, or equipment.
- Ensures that there is an adequate supply of materials available. Orders, receives, inspects, and stores equipment, merchandise, commodities, materials, and/or supplies.
- Receives and fills liquor orders for clubs, restaurants, and hotels as required.
- Maintains building(s) and/or facilities in a clean and orderly condition and/or removes snow from sidewalks and doorways, etc.
- Receives shipments and coordinates handling and storage.
Minimum Requirements
- 21 years of age or older.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to provide excellent customer service.
- Able to pass a criminal background check.
- Able to work a flexible schedule Monday - Saturday between the hours of 8 am and 11 pm.
- Preference may be given to current employees of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services.
- Physical Requirements
- Work requires physical exertion.
- May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time. Extensive standing/walking (approx. 70%/30% of shift). Must lift, pull, push, and carry 50 lbs. frequently. Requires constant balancing, grasping, and finger dexterity. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and seeing. Requires frequent talking, hearing, and hand/wrist/arm use. Tools: POS, box cutter, hand truck. Walk on either level or uneven surface frequently. Occasional climbing.
