Key Responsibilities
Are you a highly organized person interested in promoting and implementing Utah's public land priorities? The Public Lands Policy Coordinating Office (PLPCO), is hiring a Financial Analyst to work in our Salt Lake City Office. PLPCO is a small office of about 25 employees that works closely with the Public Lands Section at the Office of the Attorney General.
This is a career service exempt job. Managers placed in this title are non-classified, exempt from 63A-17-307, and are required to be placed in a position schedule of AC (Employees in Offices of Elected Officials) or Schedule AS (Employees who are required by law to be exempt). This is a schedule AC position.
Qualifications
This position will be responsible for financial duties (~50%), as well as other responsibilities (~50%) including office management, contract management, purchasing, travel coordination, assisting with human resource responsibilities, document management, tracking staff training, and other related administrative requirements. This position works closely with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) finance team for financial functions, audits, and reporting to the Utah Legislature and other governmental entities.
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.

- Manages accounting or budget activities and provides fiscal information.
- Researches and reviews financial records, schedules, reports, and/or problem areas.
- Develops and/or interprets fiscal statements and reports.
- Reconciles financial statements and reports.
- Reviews fiscal operations to ensure integrity, accuracy and control of data.
- Analyzes, summarizes and/or reviews data; reports findings, interprets results and/or makes recommendations.
- Designs, enhances, or implements systems and/or subsystems that reflect the changing needs of an agency.
- Identify data and information which suggest developing patterns of problems or complaints, from which general or specific trends and patterns can be discerned, suggesting a need for further investigation.
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc.
- Provides office management services to the office such as contract management, purchasing, travel coordination, assisting with HR processes, document management, tracking staff training, and other related administrative requirements
- May supervise subordinate personnel.
- Other duties as assigned by the director or the supervisor over this position.
- Professional experience in a related field:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or a related field, or a combination of education and experience
- Has the ability to communicate professionally in both written and verbal forms
- Expert in Microsoft Excel
- Willingness to learn and implement new tasks
- Willingness and ability to advance a positive workplace culture
- Highly organized individual
