Key Responsibilities
Roles and Responsibilities
As a Paraprofessional You Will
- prepare teaching materials and tutor individual students under the supervision of the instructor
- communicate the progress of the students to the instructor
- perform such duties as may relate to the motivation and achievement of students in academic and skills areas
- assist with behavior interventions under the direction of the instructor
- assist with routine daily activities, i.e. bus duty, recess, lunch, bathroom (may include diapering), etc.
- Provides support in a classroom environment by working directly with teachers and students.
- Maintains accurate records and logs.
- Designs and/or prepares training/instructional materials, teaching aids and devices.
Minimum Requirements
The Ideal Candidate Will
- Practical knowledge of basic classroom techniques and organization.
- American Sign Language (ASL) skills required for assignments in the ASL classrooms
- Techniques for assisting and providing effective support to classroom instructors.
- Practical skills in working effectively with students.
- Safe and timely response to special classroom situations.
- Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Communicate clearly and effectively.
- Enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in either written or electronic form.
- Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to drive a state vehicle is required.
- Successful completion of criminal background check contingent upon employment.
