The Ohio Department of Taxation is seeking to fill one (1) Database Administration Specialist 2 position in the Information Technology Division.
What you’ll do as an Database Administration Specialist 2:
- Design, develop, test, implement, and support complex platform‑specific ELT code using tools such as Python, SQL, Snowflake, StreamSets, AWS Glue and SAS.
- Perform data migrations and design business process monitoring solutions; support development, UAT, performance and production environments.
- Implement high‑availability and disaster‑resilient solutions across multiple data warehouse and reporting environments.
- Monitor load balancing and tune system parameters to ensure optimal performance across databases (e.g., Sql Server, Oracle, Snowflake).
- Provide Tier II technical support for database and ELT issues, including performance, availability, data integrity, security, and customer‑reported concerns.
- Define and support Data Warehouse business intelligence designs; assist in implementing Data Warehouses and data marts.
- Build and support enterprise reporting, dashboards, scorecards, and analytic applications (e.g., Python, R).
- Develop and maintain documentation, including installation procedures, monitoring guides, security policies, configuration changes, and migration processes.
- Collaborate with leadership to design solutions that meet enterprise requirements and support evolving business needs.
- Create, monitor, and resolve trouble tickets, ensuring timely updates and communication of remediation progress.
- Primary Technology: SQL Server ; Secondary Technology: Oracle, Snowflake

Or- completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; 36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: conducting performance tuning and configuration, creating data models and providing technical Tier II database support including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
