The Medical Records Assistant located at Randolph Correctional Center in Asheboro, which houses approximately 230 Minimum male offenders.
The Medical Records position maintains active patient medical records. Maintenance activities include frequent observation and review to ensure written and electronic records are secure and confidentiality is not compromised; routine quality assurance audits of content of records; forwarding paroled or released records to Health Services. Position also maintains several electronic and paper logs which document medical activities. Various medical forms used in the written records are stored by this position and procured and disseminated as needed. This position submits monthly and annual summary statistical reports of the type and frequency of health care rendered.
Position abstracts/copies as appropriate, medical record information per request of the nurse supervisor for release to legal authorities, outside medical providers and others as authorized by approved party. Records minutes for monthly medical staff meetings. Position schedules both internal and external clinic appointments with the Department of Adult Correction and community based health care providers. This employee coordinates these appointments with correctional transportation staff. Insures that appropriate forms are prepared and accompany the offender to appointments. The position is responsible for assisting with scheduling and overseeing telehealth appointments. Electronic, written and verbal communication required between all DAC departments and outside entities. This position will be responsible for ordering all supplies used by the medical department through NCAS and other outside vendors.
Physical effort to include walking, standing, putting up supplies, and normal office-type work.
