Community Based Services is the outpatient division of the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute. Community Based Services (CBS) provides comprehensive behavioral health services to individuals residing in a tri-county area (San Miguel, Mora and Guadalupe).

Why does the job exist?
The position exists to provide Comprehensive Community Support Services (CCSS) to individuals experiencing severe mental illness or co-occurring substance issues by assisting in developing daily living skills, supporting their ability to live independently, accessing resources, connecting with natural supports, assistance in obtaining and maintaining housing, and maintain stability within their community
How does it get done?
Community Support Workers (CSW) will work on a one-to-one basis with clients in developing goals and objectives in the following areas: Independent and community living, Learning, Working, Socialization, and Recreation. CSWs will provide services at least 60% of the time within the community setting. CSW will also complete documentation supporting client's need for treatment in the functional assessment, treatment plans, and progress notes. The CSW is also responsible for completing a crisis plan with clients and a termination summary when client has completed CCSS services.
Who are the customers?
Qualified adults, ages 18 and over, experiencing severe mental illness or co-occurring substance use issues who want to increase their basic living skills, psychosocial skills and therapeutic socialization in order to function as independently as possible.

Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.

1. SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITIONS--This position ls designated as safely sensitive. Employment Is subject to pre-employment and random testing. In accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules, and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment ls subject to nationwide criminal background checks and is conditional pending results.
2. CRIMINAL RECORDS BACKGROUND CHECK-Must successfully complete post offer pre-employment criminal records background check. Employment is conditional pending the results of criminal records background checks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Working Conditions
This position will perform in an outpatient office setting with exposure to visual/video display terminal (VDTI and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged clients who may exhibit unpredictable and potentially violent behavior. Effective 01 /01/2015, New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became 100% tobacco free/e-cigarette free campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or e-cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus. The position is located at Community Based Services. The shift is 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
