The Associate Disability Adjudicator position makes disability determinations for individuals who apply for Social Security Disability benefits at the Initial level.
How does it get done?
The Associate Disability Adjudicator position is required to balance production, timeliness, customer service, and accuracy to ensure that individual and agency goals are met. The Associate Disability Adjudicator must have good caseload management skills and technical writing skills.

Ideal Candidate
Citizens of New Mexico.
Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalent and two (2) years of experience in a related field. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Individuals selected for positions with the New Mexico Disability Determination Service (DDS) will go through a complete federal background investigation. A suitability determination by the Social Security Administration is necessary to determine whether an employee can be issued credentials in order to have access to Social Security disability data, records, and systems. Finalists must pass a preliminary check prior to a job offer being made. A full background investigation will follow. Further details will be provided during the interview process.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
