Why does the job exist?
This position conducts religious worship and performs spiritual functions associated with beliefs and practices of religious faith or denominations. This position provides spiritual and moral guidance and assistance to members and volunteers.
How does it get done?
Ordained or formally endorsed by any recognized denominational institution of religious or spiritual learning, and two (2) years of experience in leading religious or spiritual ceremonies, counseling, and/or being part of a multidisciplinary therapy team. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
This position is designed safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing in accordance with all terms and conditions of Federal and State law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Pre-employment background check is required and conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.

- Visits living, segregation mental health and infirmary units as well as inmates in community hospitals
- Manages chapel, staff contact and consultation
- Conducts orientation and continuous training of volunteers
