The Position
DMV Services Technicians provide customer services associated with driver's license, vehicle, and business occupational licensing programs including licensing drivers; issuing identification cards; registering and titling vehicles; issuing occupational business licenses; and processing reinstatements.

You must respond to the minimum qualifications screening question to ensure that your application moves forward. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series. This announcement will be used to fill multiple positions with the DMV-Central Services Division in Carson City. All positions are dedicated to customer service and the delivery of DMV programs and voter registration to the community.Incumbents could be selected to work as part of Titles/NV Live, the Call Center, Records, Driver License Renewal by Mail (DLRBM), the Exceptions Unit, or the Driver License Assessment Team (DLAT). Titles analyzes title documents for completeness and accuracy, identifies document errors, evaluates customer needs, supplies accurate title information, answers phone calls, enters accurate title data into DMV Applications, creates correspondence statistical reports, and processes title and/or sales tax fees using correct Revenue Account Codes. The Call Center handles all incoming calls statewide for the DMV, assisting customers with basic registration, title, driver's license, on-line applications, MYDMV accounts and dash pass questions. In addition to phone calls this position responds to all incoming e-mail inquiries. Records processes requests for information from individuals, businesses, law enforcement, courts/attorneys and other government agencies by conducting research using various computer programs, microfilm or microfiche to provide documentation of: vehicle registration information or registrations histories, vehicle title information or title histories, driver's license information, clearance letters and driver records. DLRBM takes requests by phone and email for driver's license and ID card renewals or address changes, voter registration, and processes returned mail.
The Exceptions Unit verifies all immigration documents thru the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and United States Customs and Immigration Service (USCIS) with the help of the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) and Verification of Legal Status (VLS). DLAT responds to requests for reinstatements of driver's licenses, accidents, medical certificates, and suspensions and revocations via telephone and e-mail communication, and processes fines and money transactions. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience which included public and/or customer contact including explaining rules, regulations, policies and procedures, one year of which was equivalent to a DMV Services Technician I working with legal vehicle registration and titling documents which required making decisions based on evaluation of customer documents; OR one year of experience as a DMV Services Technician I in Nevada State service.
Special Notes
In accordance with NRS 293.5045, the Department of Motor Vehicles, as a voter registration agency, shall not knowingly employ an individual in this class series who has been convicted of a felony involving theft and/or fraud.
The Department of Motor Vehicles is required to comply with 49 CFR 1572.103 which provides that an agency involved in the issuance of Real ID Driver's Licenses shall not knowingly employ a person if they have been convicted of any of the felonies listed under this regulation.
In accordance with 49 CFR 384.228, the Department of Motor Vehicles is required to conduct a national background check on any employee that administers Commercial Driver License (CDL) knowledge and/or skills testing, and the DMV shall not knowingly employ such a person if they have been convicted of a felony in the last 10 years or have been convicted of any fraudulent activities.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
