Fulton State Hospital is a 449-bed, TJC-Accredited Hospital, which is part of Missouri Department of Mental Health. Located in central Missouri, Fulton is located close to Columbia, home of the University of Missouri, and Jefferson City, the state capitol. The entire central MO area is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. Cost of living in the area is very good with excellent affordable housing and high quality public and private schools. Additionally, larger metropolitan areas with many and varied social and cultural opportunities are in close proximity with St. Louis less than a two-hour drive to the east and Kansa City, a two-hour drive to the west.

The HR Director is a vital member of the hospital’s Executive Team. The successful candidate will bring to bear creative and analytical problem-solving skills to support staff providing clinical and support services in this challenging but rewarding environment.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the implementation of the total personnel program to include recruitment, selection, placement, and discipline of the workforce as well as an effective program of employee relations. Fulton State Hospital has over 1,000 employees and responsibilities of the position include:
- Working closely with all the division directors and managers to provide oversight of the Human Resource’s office to effectively delegate the many different functions of the Human Resource office.
- Oversee the employee hiring and onboarding process.
- Oversee the payroll and benefit functions as well as compensation and classifications.
- Administration of FSH recruitment and retention efforts.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal and departmental requirements and expectations to include continued professional development and engagement within the workforce.
- Communicate any changes to both local leadership and the workforce.
- Continually focus on process improvements, and organizational efficiency.
- Cultivating a positive efficient work environment through collaboration with FSH leadership.
- Contribute to the strategic execution of the facilities mission and be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations in HR.
Eligibility:
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) with a minimum of 15 credit hours in Personnel or closely related field; and four or more years or professional human resources experience. Applicants for this position must have a working knowledge and experience with personnel state and federal laws, including the rules and regulations of the Missouri Office of Administration - Division of Personnel, Labor or Industrial Relations. The position offers excellent state benefits, and an annual salary range of $73,800-$78,409 based on qualifications.
