Minnesota Housing is hiring! We’re a mission-focused financial institution looking for a Multifamily Communications Coordinator who will lead and implement strategic internal and external communications to advance the goals of the Multifamily and Housing Stability divisions. It provides expert content development, plain-language review, and communications planning to ensure clear, accessible, and consistent messaging for diverse audiences. The role is essential for helping staff communicate complex program information in ways that promote understanding, engagement, and compliance. Working directly with our largest program, the Consolidated RFP, the position is directly linked to mission-focused work and ensuring the public have equitable access to partnership opportunities.

Essential Job Duties

  • Develop and implement communications plans for major division initiatives, including the Multifamily Consolidated RFP.
  • Lead division eNews content development, messaging coordination, and timely distribution.
  • Review and ensure plain-language and writing-style compliance for internal and external communications.
  • Provide strategic communications guidance to program staff, identifying risks, needs, and opportunities.
  • Translate complex programs or technical information into clear, accessible content for internal and external audiences.
  • Support training and guidance for staff on plain-language and accessibility standards.
  • Coordinate communications for process improvements, technology projects, and special initiatives to support successful roll-out and stakeholder understanding.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below.   • Two (2) years of experience applying communications principles, including strategic planning, message development, content design, audience analysis, and implementing communications plans.
    • A Bachelor’s degree in communications may substitute for 12 months of experience – or – a Associate’s degree in the listed fields may substitute for 6 months of experience
  • Strong writing and editing skills, including the ability to apply plain-language standards and follow established style guidelines.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards for digital content (such as readability, alt text, formatting, and inclusive design practices).
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and deliver high-quality work on schedule.
  • Skill in translating complex programs, policies, or technical information into clear, user-friendly communications.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Cultural competency demonstrated through the ability to communicate and interact respectfully across cultures, as well as awareness of one’s own perspectives and the diversity of others’ perspectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience advising internal clients or leadership on communications strategy.
  • Experience developing and implementing communications plans for complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Familiarity with accessibility tools such as CommonLook.
  • Experience supporting staff training efforts related to plain language or digital accessibility.
  • Experience working in housing, government, or similarly regulated program environments.

Physical Requirements

Requires moving office items such as file folders and small office tools.

A certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
