Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or a temporary permit.
Note:
The temporary APRN permit allows an APRN applicant to work in a limited capacity for up to 120 days while awaiting review for full APRN licensure by the nursing board. An APRN applicant cannot medically diagnose or medically manage patients until they are licensed and have prescriptive authority. If the APRN license is not received within the 120-day period and the permit expires, the employee must be removed from the position.

- Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including medical histories and physical exams, to diagnose conditions and determine appropriate care or referrals
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans, adjusting treatment strategies based on patient response and evolving needs
- Perform clinical procedures such as pap smears, breast and pelvic exams, and insertion of long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs)
- Analyze laboratory and diagnostic data, establish diagnoses, prescribe medications, and collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers
- Provide advanced primary and preventive care, counsel patients and families, and coordinate appropriate referrals and community health resources
- Support and enhance clinical practice by offering technical guidance to staff, participating in quality assurance activities, and contributing to program development
- Maintain accurate medical records, assist with staff education and training, and participate in continuing education and professional development activities
