The Office of Technology Services aims to be a responsible partner in delivering innovative, effective, and reliable solutions that support and enhance the IT functions within Executive Branch Departments. The Office of Technology Services will work to increase the return on the State's investment in technology by promoting smart decision-making, solving problems intelligently, increasing the rate of project success, and fostering a skilled and professional staff.
This position is part of the Edge Operations team within the Office of Technology Services (OTS) – Network Communication Services and is responsible for supporting and advancing the edge network infrastructure that serves Louisiana state agency offices and state-owned or leased multi-tenant facilities. The engineer plays a lead role in regional project execution, network service provisioning, and escalated troubleshooting efforts across a wide range of modern and legacy technologies. Work performed in this role directly supports statewide IT operations, enhances service delivery, and contributes to the strategic modernization of the state’s network environment.
The Division Of Administration Is The State Government’s Management Arm And The Hub Of Its Financial Operations. Division Offices Perform a Wide Variety Of Activities, Including The Following:
Five years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR
An associate's degree in information technology plus three years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR
A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus two years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR
A master’s degree plus two years of experience in information technology or administrative services.
Experience Substitution:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Note:
A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Lead network components of complex, collaborative projects within the assigned region focused on agency sites and multi-tenant facilities:
- Design, implement, and support advanced Layer 2/3 network solutions, with a strong focus on software-defined networking (SDN) across agency and tenant environments
- Deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise SDN platforms to enable centralized management, enhanced visibility, and dynamic policy enforcement
- Manage network access control systems, ensuring secure, role-based access, user segmentation, and device-level policy compliance
- Install and support enterprise wireless (Wi-Fi) solutions to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance connectivity aligned with OTS standards
- Integrate SDN technologies with legacy infrastructure to modernize network environments while maintaining compatibility and stability
- Serve as a technical leader by advising management, mentoring junior engineers, and promoting scalable, cost-effective network strategies
- Coordinate with cross-functional OTS teams and stakeholders to plan, execute, and deliver projects aligned with organizational goals
- Act as the primary technical liaison for agencies, managing requirements, timelines, deployments, and documentation while providing regular status updates to leadership
- Respond to and resolve network incidents and service requests across assigned regions, supporting a wide range of edge technologies
- Lead resolution of complex or escalated issues, coordinating with vendors, internal teams, and agency IT staff as needed
- Troubleshoot interoperability challenges in mixed legacy and modern network environments to minimize service disruptions
- Ensure timely service restoration and document root causes, corrective actions, and recurring issues
- Mentor junior engineers on troubleshooting techniques, diagnostic tools, and OTS operational standards
- Maintain deep knowledge of SDN, enterprise wireless systems, access control technologies, and other emerging networking trends
- Complete approved training and certifications that support current and future responsibilities within the evolving OTS network environment
- Support special projects, strategic initiatives, and operational planning efforts as directed by OTS leadership
