If this sounds like you, then you might be the ideal candidate for Legal Secretary at the London Trial Office of the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy.
Our clients are people not able to afford an attorney who the government has charged with criminal offenses in Laurel County. Compassion for our clients and commitment to our mission are critical characteristics for the successful candidate.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Act as a liaison between attorneys, clients, and other members of the community.
- Draft and edit a variety of documents.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Time management skills.
- Ability to handle time-sensitive tasks for various attorneys.
- Ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Courtnet and other court related platforms is preferred.
- File creation.
- Preparing correspondence.
- Data entry.
- Answering phones.
- Greeting clients as needed.
- Prepare and proofread legal documents for staff attorneys.
- Assisting with other clerical tasks.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of clerical experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
