Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:

This position works collaboratively with the Waiver Program Manager to determine waiver program eligibility. Processes information obtained from various sources in accordance with standard procedures, rules and regulations.

The Waiver Program Specialist will process exception requests for the SED Waiver in conjunction with the Program Manager, and in the event of Program Manager absence due to position vacancy, the specialist will provide information to the HCBS Director and/or HCBS Administrative Manager for final decision-making.

Process daily eligibility for SED waivers.

Follow up with KDHE on financial eligibility inquiries which come to KDADS.

Process notices regarding deaths, moves out of state and other removals from the SED Waiver, and update KAMIS information as necessary.

Work with KDHE regarding WORK and STEPS transitions.

Work in collaboration with the appropriate assessing entities to ensure all procedures are and reporting are adhered to.

Collect data for monthly LTSS reports and relays information to Program Manager and/or HCBS Director.

Review SED billing invoices for completion, then provides outcome to Program Manager/HCBS Director for his/her action.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • The Program Specialist serves as the main point of contact for program eligibility questions from assessing entities, MCOs, KDHE, and consumer and their families. In conjunction with the assigned Waiver Program Manager, the specialist shall approve or deny waiver eligibility following the guidelines set out by the waiver. The specialist will issue ES-3160’s and ES-3161’s as appropriate.
  • Process Program Manager approved exception requests for the SED waiver.
  • Follow up with KDHE on SED waiver financial eligibility inquiries which come to KDADS.
  • Work with KDHE regarding WORK and STEPS transitions.
  • Works in collaboration with the appropriate assessing entities to ensure all procedures are and reporting are adhered to.
  • Reviews SED billing invoices for completion, then provides outcome to Program Manager/HCBS Director for his/her action.
  • Collect data for monthly LTSS reports as directed, and relay information to Program Manager, Supervisor and/or HCBS Director.

Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to ensuring the agency is adequately staffed during and immediately following natural and/or manmade disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and/or acts of terrorism. Assists other employees in the work unit in accomplishing assignments as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One year of experience in professional administrative support work
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of HCBS services system.
