Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Resource and Engagement Program Manager leads the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of comprehensive aging resource materials that connect older Kansans, their families, caregivers, and professionals with available services and supports throughout the state. The position collaborates with Commission subject matter experts and the Communications team to develop and maintain accurate, accessible, and engaging print and digital resources for statewide, Area Agency on Aging (AAA), Planning and Service Area (PSA), and other targeted audiences. The Program Manager also promotes awareness of aging services through statewide outreach, stakeholder engagement, public presentations, and community events, serving as a key resource for improving access to aging programs and services across Kansas.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Resource Development and Program Coordination:
- Develop, coordinate, and maintain comprehensive print and digital aging resource materials that provide accurate, current, and accessible information on programs and services available to older Kansans, their families, and caregivers.
- Collaborate with Commission subject matter experts to gather, organize, and develop content, and work with the Communications team to develop print and digital resource materials tailored for statewide, Area Agency on Aging (AAA), Planning and Service Area (PSA), and other targeted audiences.
- Develop and maintain processes for collecting, organizing, and updating resource content to ensure the timely incorporation of new and revised information.
- Coordinate with internal staff and external partners to identify emerging resources, service changes, and opportunities to enhance the quality and usefulness of aging information provided to the public.
Stakeholder Engagement and Outreach:
- Represent the Commission at conferences, stakeholder meetings, community events, and other public forums to promote awareness of aging resources, programs, and services.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with Area Agencies on Aging, community organizations, service providers, and other stakeholders to support the accuracy and accessibility of aging resource materials.
- Gather feedback and resource information from stakeholders throughout the state to identify service changes, emerging needs, and opportunities to enhance resource materials.
- Plan and deliver presentations and educational sessions to increase awareness and understanding of aging programs, services, and available supports.
Resource Management and Continuous Improvement:
- Coordinate periodic reviews of resource content with Commission staff and partner organizations to ensure materials remain current, accurate, and comprehensive.
- Monitor changes in aging programs, services, policies, and community resources to identify needed revisions and enhancements to print and digital materials.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and usability of resource materials and recommend improvements based on stakeholder feedback, emerging needs, and best practices.
- Coordinate periodic reviews and updates with Commission staff and partner organizations to ensure resource materials remain current and comprehensive.
Collaboration and Strategic Initiatives:
- Collaborate with Commission staff and cross-functional teams to support agency priorities, promote consistent messaging, and advance aging initiatives.
- Provide subject matter support and resource information to internal staff, stakeholders, and partners to strengthen awareness of aging services and supports.
- Assist with special projects, strategic initiatives, and other assignments that support the mission and goals of the Commission on Aging.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to ensuring the agency is adequately staffed during and immediately following natural and/or manmade disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and/or acts of terrorism. Assists other employees in the work unit in accomplishing assignments as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Three years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public outreach, stakeholder engagement, program coordination, health and human services, or a closely related field.
- Success coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders, subject matter experts, or partner organizations.
- Skill in planning and delivering presentations, facilitating meetings, and conducting outreach with community groups, stakeholders, or professional audiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Unrestricted Driver's License and ability to travel independently throughout Kansas to support stakeholder engagement, presentations, and outreach activities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Relevant education may substitute for experience at the agency's discretion, consistent with state policy.
Preferred:
- Background working with older adults, caregivers, aging services, or health and human services programs.
- Knowledge of programs and services available through the Older Americans Act and the aging network.
- Familiarity with developing or maintaining print and digital publications, resource guides, websites, or educational materials.
- Collaboration with communications, marketing, or public information staff to develop public-facing materials.
- Professional certification or specialized training related to communications, public engagement, project management, aging services, or health education.
- Established relationships with Area Agencies on Aging, community-based organizations, or other statewide stakeholder networks.
