What are the responsibilities and job description for the MEDICAID NURSE III position at State of Alabama?
The Medicaid Nurse III is a permanent, full-time position with the Alabama Medicaid Agency. Positions are located in Montgomery. This
is professional administrative and supervisory nursing work in directing activities and personnel of a statewide medical and nursing
services program within the Alabama Medicaid Agency.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT(S)
• Current, permanent status as a Medicaid Nurse II (promotional register only).
• Master’s degree from an accredited* four-year college or university in Nursing.
• Five years of professional nursing experience, preferably in an agency emphasizing Medicaid rules and regulations, including two years
of supervisory or administrative experience.
OR
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited* four-year college or university in Nursing.
• Six years of professional nursing experience, preferably in an agency emphasizing Medicaid rules and regulations, including two years of
supervisory or administrative experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT(S)
• Alabama Professional Nursing License as issued by the Alabama Board of Nursing; license number MUST be included on the application.
EXAMINATION
• Open-Competitive to all applicants and Promotional to current state employees in the job classification listed above.
• An evaluation of Training and Experience as shown on application will comprise 95% of the applicant’s final score for the promotional
register, with the remaining 5% being based on the average of the applicant’s service ratings for the last three years. The Training and
Experience evaluation will comprise 100% of the final score for the open-competitive register.
