What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solution Engineer Team Lead – Civilian Sciences position at StartupTAP?
We've partnered with Esri as their retained recruiting partner on a Solution Engineer Team Lead role supporting the Civilian Sciences team within Esri’s National Government business.
This position leads a team of Solution Engineers and works closely with Account Managers, Sales Managers, and customers on technical presentations, product demonstrations, and solution development for federal civilian organizations. It also leads the technical strategy across the sales cycle and serves as a technical leader for ArcGIS within the Civilian Sciences team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of Solution Engineers through active coaching, clear direction, and regular feedback
- Work with Account Managers and Sales Managers to lead the technical stages of the sales process
- Act as a technical leader for ArcGIS and a subject matter expert in Civilian Sciences
- Help develop and position complex GIS solutions that align with customer business needs
- Support and lead technical presentations, product demonstrations, and technical meetings with customers
- Build relationships with technical decision makers and support account strategies
- Design and deliver presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Provide guidance on solution configuration and best practices
- Support conferences, trade shows, and executive engagements
- Help cultivate and coordinate technical resources to support sales objectives
Requirements:
- 8 years of experience with Esri technology (creating maps, spatial analysis, configuring web applications)
- 3 years of experience mentoring, motivating, or coaching team members
- Advanced understanding of GIS technology and the ArcGIS system, especially patterns of use for Civilian Sciences
- Broad knowledge of ArcGIS from an IT systems perspective (infrastructure, databases, web services, cloud, etc.)
- Experience in technical consulting and conceptual solution design
- Experience participating in the sales process in a technical role
- Strong presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 50%
- Bachelor’s degree in geography, computer science, or a related field
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship)

- Experience working with Civilian Sciences customers or the broader sciences community
- Master’s degree in geography, computer science, or a related field
Salary : $114,400 - $195,520
